The growth of this store from year to year has won the ad miration of all who have seen the Cowan family work to make a suc cess of their business. It is now tops in its line and an asset not only to this community but to the area as a whole including upper Greenville and Spartanburg Coun ties. The store has a number of food specialists helping to put on a three day sale celebrating the event and invite the public to come ?ee.Another business, just four years old, that is also making rapid progress is the Smith Super Market which is ceiebrating its grand open ng in a new building of its own in Columbus on Satur day, May 9th. Paul and Cecil Smith, the owners, invite the public to their grand opening. Charles W. Fink Evangelistic services are being held every night this week at 8 at the Tryon Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Charles W. Fink of Danville, Va. Special music by various leaders in the community is also a feature of the meetings. The public is invited. Anderson Is Initiated Into Pi Kappa Phi John Raymond Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kelsey An derson of Tryon, was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, national social fraternity, at North Carolina State College, Raleigh; May 3 Anderspn, whose major course is furniture .manufacturing and man agement is a member of the class of 1954.
